Christopher Polvoorde’s 1967 Ford F100 prerunner is the kind of build that makes you stop scrolling and pay attention. This isn’t your grandfather’s farm truck anymore - it’s a street-legal desert missile that proves classic American iron can hang with the best modern prerunners when you throw enough HP and suspension travel at it.

The numbers on this F100 are absolutely wild. We’re talking about a 530-HP motor pushing 37" General Tire ATX rubber through a 4L80E transmission. But the real magic happens when you look at the suspension setup. Jimmy Weitzel at Weitzel Motorsports spent over two years building this beast, and the attention to detail shows everywhere you look.
Up front, the truck runs an I-beam setup with 24" of wheel travel. That might not sound like much compared to some modern trophy trucks, but when you’re piloting a classic F100 body through the desert, those 24" feel like a mile. The King Shocks 4.0 “King Kong” coilovers paired with quad bypass shocks and 2.5 bump stops handle the big hits while keeping the truck planted during high-speed runs.
The rear suspension is where things get really interesting. Polvoorde mentions the truck is strapped at 30" of travel, which is serious long-travel territory. Those same King Kong coilovers and quad bypass shocks work overtime to soak up the whoops and landings that would turn a stock truck into scrap metal.
What really sets this build apart is how it balances performance with comfort. Most prerunners are stripped-down race machines that beat you to death on the street. This F100 rocks a full leather interior, wrapped dash, headliner, and most importantly - air conditioning. When you’re running the desert in 103-degree heat, that AC isn’t luxury, it’s survival equipment.
The tech package is equally impressive. A full Motec system handles engine management while an iPad mounted in the dash provides navigation and entertainment. The Rugged Radios intercom system lets Polvoorde blast tunes while flying through the desert, which honestly sounds like the perfect way to spend a day.
The desert testing session at Superstition really shows what this truck can do. Polvoorde isn’t babying the F100 - he’s sending it off jumps, carving through berms, and running highway speeds across rough terrain. The truck soaks up everything he throws at it while keeping him comfortable in the air-conditioned cab.
The five Rigid LED pods up front might seem like overkill until you realize this truck gets driven at night. Desert racing doesn’t stop when the sun goes down, and having enough light to see the next jump or wash is crucial for survival.
Storage is another area where this build shines. The truck carries two spare tires, a full tool kit, spare driveshaft, and even a Harbor Freight jack. That 50 gallon fuel cell means extended range for long desert runs without worrying about finding gas stations in the middle of nowhere.
Multiple fire extinguishers scattered throughout the truck show that Polvoorde learned from a hydraulic fire incident and takes safety seriously.
For anyone thinking about building their own prerunner, this F100 shows what’s possible when you combine vision, budget, and the right builder. Weitzel Motorsports clearly knows their stuff, and Polvoorde’s willingness to actually use the truck proves that great builds are meant to be driven, not just admired.
